Consumer-Directed Care
Consumer Directed Care offers elders the opportunity to choose and hire their own caregiver to perform personal care, homemaking (laundry, chores…), shopping, or other tasks in their home.
This program is for ALL elders, even those who are NOT on Mass Health. (Those who ARE on Mass Health, and wish to hire and supervise their own caregivers, may be served through the Personal Care Attendant Program [PCA].)
Consumer Directed Care is especially valuable for people:
- who would like to be able to hire a family member (other than spouse), friend or neighbor to provide care.
- who wish to manage their own workers.
- who live in rural areas where vendors may have less availability
- who need workers fluent in a language other than English
