Finding a Contractor

  1. If you have not read it already, please study “How to Hire a Contractor,” which will provide information about how to hire a contractor and why it is critical to hire a licensed contractor in order to access the state’s consumer protection programs and resources.

  2. If you have not already, look at this  List of Tradespeople to make sure you know what kind of tradesman or woman you are seeking for your particular repair problem.

  3. Click here to get access to the State of Massachusetts’ searchable listings of all licensed Home Improvement Contractors. READ THIS FIRST! When the page opens, choose "Home Improvement Contractors." Then, type in the name of your town and click “Search” and you will get a list of all “Home Improvement Contractors” with current (and some expired) licenses in your town. Once you get the list of Contractors on the computer, by clicking on a particular contractor’s license number, you will find a summary of location, more contact information for his or her business, and any complaints filed against that contractor.

  4. You can also click here to access a list of Individuals with "Construction Supervisor" licenses; click here for Plumbers; click here for Electricians.

Hiring a Contractor doing Disability Modifications, check this Government of Massachusetts web site.

Note: Finding a contractor through these lists does not imply that Franklin County Home Care Corporation endorses the contractor.
