Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program/SNAP (formerly the Food Stamps Program) is provided by the federal government and administered by DTA. At the check-out counter, the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card, is used by many elders to assist them in making ends meet. There are several ways to apply for SNAP benefits: You can apply on line at http://www.mass.gov/snap. The Food Bank of Western Mass and the Franklin County Home Care Benefits Counselors can assist with applications.
