Congregate Housing

Seniors at a Christmas party at Morgan Allen HouseCongregate Housing combines home care services and shared living space for older or disabled adults. Security, companionship, support and home care services as needed, help people stay independent and active in the community.

Congregate housing is a great option for people who don't want to live alone, but are not in need of nursing or rest home care.

Services available to residents may include:

  • Care management
  • Homemaker services
  • Transportation coordination
  • Personal care
  • One community meal a day
  • Coordination with other services as needed
  • Optional community activities

There are two Congregate Housing facilities in Franklin County: Morgan Allen House and Winslow Wentworth House.

Morgan Allen House is located at 491 Main Street, near the corner of Main and High Streets in Greenfield, MA. The library, post office, YMCA, and Greenfield Senior Center are within three blocks of Morgan Allen House.

The Winslow Wentworth House is located at 60 J Street in Turners Falls, MA. The library, post office, a grocery store, drug store, banks and more are within two blocks of the Winslow Wentworth House.

Congregate Housing coordinators can be reached at 800-732-4636, or 413-773-5555, or 978-544-2259, or TDD 413-772-6566, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please specify your interest in Morgan Allen House or Winslow Wentworth House.
