Homestead Forms

Scam artists would like you to think that homestead forms are only available for a fee.

HOMESTEAD FORMS ARE FREE!

They are made available by your local Registrar of Deeds office. You can visit the office and pick them up or call and they will be sent to you. There is also an information booklet you can request.

These forms are now available online as well. Just Google search “Massachusetts Homestead Form” and you can print them out.

Once you fill out the form you need to sign it in the presence of a notary public. The Registrar’s office does not usually have a notary onsite so try a local bank or senior center.

There IS a fee to FILE the homestead form. The fee is $35 and the check should be made out to “Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
