Changes to The Good Life

The senior population is growing all over the country, and the same phenomenon is happening in Franklin County and the North Quabbin region. Calls for Meals on Wheels are increasing faster than funding and donations. For that reason, The Good Life is partnering with The Recorder to continue to bring senior and caregiver news to people in Franklin County and the North Quabbin area. Redirecting funds to Meals on Wheels will assure that every homebound elder in need of a noontime meal will be served.

The June 2008 issue of The Good Life will be the last issue mailed to your home. Then The Good Life will appear each Saturday in The Recorder instead of being mailed to your home monthly, starting July 5, 2008. It will also be offered as The Recorder Extra, which is mailed to many area homes weekly. A different feature will run each week.

Week 1 will be Seniorgram and FCHCC Program Profile & Health/Fitness/Nutrition;

Week 2 will be SHINE and Information & Caregiver Resources & Estate Planning/Finances/Retirement Planning;

Week 3 will be Social Security and Legislative Viewpoint & Lifestyles features;

Week 4 will be Legal Notes and Caregiver Issues & Lifestyles features.

When months have an extra week, special topics will be covered. Senior Center News and the meal site and home-delivered meals menu will be available weekly in the Recorder’s Senior News section.

People currently on our mailing list who live out of the Recorder’s service area (Athol, Phillipston, Royalston, Petersham) will receive a monthly newsletter—a shortened version of the regular Good Life.

If you do not subscribe to The Recorder, they have offered to send The Good Life pages ONLY as an “extra” to those Good Life subscribers within their service area AT NO COST. If you’d like to receive just The Good Life pages as The Recorder Extra, please call 413-774-2741.

The Good Life will be available on our website, www.fchcc.org, each week as PDF files. These PDF files will also be available via email to our current email subscribers and those who ask. Viewing The Good Life electronically saves money and paper.

The Good Life has been bringing free monthly news to people age 55 and older and professionals for more than two decades. We appreciate your support in this collaboration with The Recorder, which will ensure that people age 55 and older still stay informed, and that Meals on Wheels in our communities can go the extra mile.

The meals menu will be available on our website, www.fchcc.org, beginning July 1, 2008.

If you have any questions or would like to receive The Good Life electronically, please contact Anna Viadero at 413-773-5555 Ext 296, or 978-544-2259 Ext 296 or

Sincerely,
Roseann Martoccia, Executive Director
